Hey Alan -

Yes, I was still gone! But good to hear from you.

So how did things end up at the Fringe Show? How many people came in the end?

I think your reasons for saying "no" are good - I'll supportcha! :)

Hey Jim,
Great to hear from you again! I guess you're still on vacation, eh? Hope that's going well.

I took July/August off under the impression that I would experience some relaxation, but it hasn't happened. I moved to Winnipeg with this box of books I was going to read, but haven't cracked one yet! :(

Most of July was taken up with my show in the Fringe Festival. I thought it would take up an hour or so of my day for part of July, but boy was I wrong!
Now it's August 9th, and things aren't looking much better. I just got back from a week of cooking at camp with Christal. That was fun, but whenever we weren't cooking or cleaning we were wedding planning or nurturing our relationship. Now I'll spend the next week with LBE (inner city ministry I've declined full-time/year-round involvement with, to the director's chagrin) helping out with their day camp 8am - 5pm.

That's going to be tough, because a big part of me would like to just jump on board with the ministry, and the director isn't a fan of the reasons I've given for not being involved (spending a year establishing ourselves in our marriage, getting established in a church again, etc etc). I believe in my reasons, but he's just not one of those "good listener" type peoples. I guess he's more of a "jump where your heart leads - because that's the Holy Spirit - and let God deal with the details" kind of person. It'll be challenging being so involved with hurting kids for a week, and then retreating to the Mennonite countryside for a year of selfish investment.

So, my "two months off" are going to be more like "two weeks off" and that's a tough pill to swallow. But the good thing is that I'm not in Pinawa anymore, and that should be vacation enough! :)
