I think it's useful to warn people and help them take precautions (a Mexican talk show I saw here was actually very helpful and balanced), but some of the reporting has just been wrong. The masks thing has been funny. We saw news reports about masks when hardly anyone was wearing them due to swine flu (people wear them here all the time when they have a bug, to keep it from spreading). Monday I saw most people wearing them, since then fewer people. But it does look surreal! Thanks for all your comments!

I've been doing some reading one this the last couple days as I, too, am frustrated with all the media hype. It is always good to put numbers into PROPER perspective.
