Hannah and Jim – Flying North?!

In about three and a half weeks, Hannah and I (Jim) will be flying north – all the way to the city of Hermosillo, in the Sonoran Desert.  We’re heading up for a special weekend at Arbol de Vida (Tree of Life), an Evangelical Free Church.

It’s going to be quite a fun weekend.  The focus is on discipleship – and the weekend is for believers – believers who happen to be children.  The idea is to give them hands-on practical teaching, training, and experience that will help them grow in their Christian lives.

I will be going as the weekend’s main speaker (although there will be a whole bunch of workshops and things – my part is really just a small part), and Hannah will be going as… well, I guess she’ll be the kid with the funny Mexico City accent! 😉

We’re coming at the invitation of our friends the Neufelds, who have served the church and community there for many years.  It’s going to be great to see them on their "home turf"!  It’s also a great excuse for some father/daughter time with Hannah. 🙂

And who knows?  Maybe I’ll learn a few things that we can use in our community here!  Although we’re in quite a different environment, we do share the desire to see people of all ages discipled in meaningful ways.

So, in preparation I’m learning about the Apostle Peter, who will be the one to help us focus on the Lord Jesus this time around.

Lord willing, Hannah and I will be flying out on the 31st of March, and returning early Monday morning (the 4th) so that I can be back in time for my keyboard class in the evening.

So we’ll keep you informed!  We’re looking forward to a great time with the kids in Hermosillo, Mexico!
