Dan

Many of you have been praying for our cousins the Gilmores in Ontario.  For those who haven’t been following along, let me briefly share.

On the 8th of November, Dan (who is Shari’s first cousin, once removed) was in a serious accident at work.  He was crushed between a pole and a rail car.

Although he was concious for a little while, his condition was so serious he couldn’t be moved right away.  His heart actually stopped for 10 minutes.  After some emergency surgery, he was airlifted to Hamilton.

After more surgery, he was healing well.  But a few days later, tests showed that the damage was just too much.  On the 14th, the doctors said he probably had days or hours.  Four days later, ten days after the accident, his mother wrote on Facebook:

We have laid our son, Dan, in the arms of God. God is good all of the time. All of the time God is good.

Here’s a news report on the accident.

Christians understand something about death that many people don’t want to accept.

It’s the fact that death is terrible and horrible.  It’s not lovely that the spirit departs the body.  It’s a result of sin, and it not a part of the perfect world that God created.

So we are right to cry and grieve.  We are right to be angry that death pretends to rule.

The world should not be like this.

Death is the enemy.  But we know that death will be conquered.

The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
1Corinthians 15:26

Please continue to pray for the family.  And thank you to so many who have been praying all through the past couple of weeks.

I’ll leave you with the words of Dan’s Dad:

Dear friends, it is with great sorrow that we have to inform you that our son, Danny has gone to be with Jesus. He left us peacefully and in no pain for which we praise the Lord. We are so thankful for all your prayers and support during these difficult days. We will continue to covet them for many days to come. We praise the Lord for his gift of Danny to us even for this short while. God is good!
