A migraine attack rather wrecked my plans for the day.  Getting some work done at home, some errands, a Bible study… I had great plans, most of which went out the window.

But I’m not one for sitting around.  If I can’t go out, I’ll do something in the house.  If I can’t stand up, maybe I can sit and work.  If I can’t sit, I can sit up in bed and read.  If I can’t read, I can listen to something.  If I can’t even listen, I can think over something.  If I’m beyond that, I better hope I can sleep!

Today at the "can’t go out but can still stand up" phase, I made some rice pudding with Nathanael.

My Grandmother Cottrill used to make great rice pudding.  Her’s was baked, but this was stove top.  A great recipe, though.

Arroz con Leche (rice pudding) is a classic Mexican dessert.  This is my own version with organic whole grain rice, but still very Mexican with cinnamon and lime.  Delish.  I ate a warm bowl at the "can’t stand up but can sorta sit up" phase.

So in the absence of much excitement today, the arroz con leche makes it as my picture of the day.

We have a bad habit.  There’s a Krispy Kreme at the airport in Mexico City (one at each terminal, actually).  And yes, we have a habit of getting a doughnut when we go to the airport.  It’s not exactly Tim Hortons, but it’s not bad.

Today we went to drop off Brittany, who has been here taking photos for CAM International (soon to be Camino Global).  Brittany is on the plane right now (as far as we know), heading to Uruguay.  She won’t be arriving until tomorrow morning.

We’ll miss Brittany!  It was fun having her around, and I know she took some great pictures.  Thanks, Brittany!

Anyway, while we were hanging out with her, we went to Krispy Kreme and discovered they have everything… except doughnuts.

Come back in half an hour, we were told.

So we did, and we got some raspberry fills.

Back in 2005 I wrote about the strange ways people have found our website.  What search words do they enter in order to get here?

There were many surprises – words like zooplay, pictures of earthships, and maroon color were on the list.

So I was curious to find out – how have things changed?  I’m happy to say that, several years later, it seems that search engines have improved and people are finding us using things like our names (what a concept!) and words and phrases that actually relate.

Here are a few of the words and phrases that people have punched into search engines over the years – and have thus discovered our site:

• class schedule:  No, sorry – I don’t have your class schedule.  Try calling the school.
• amy:  Seriously?  We’ve come up in search engines for the word amy?  I mean, we love Shari’s sister, and she is pretty important…
• swine flue:  I didn’t spell it like that – really I didn’t!
• whipping:  Yes, I have a post about whipping…
• common house bugs pictures:  Well, we did used to have a lotta bugs in Cuernavaca…
• keep calm and pray:  Good advice!
• noisy bugs:  Gotta love ‘em.
• farmacia de dios:  Translation, pharmacy of God.  Yes, I believe I did mention it once…
• butterfly homework:  Yes, butterflies can come here for help with their homework!
• jim’s wish list:  Hurrah!  Oh, wait – which Jim were you looking for?? (How many could there be?)

Last night I threw together a video (when I was too tired to do anything else) (except to wash some dishes).  Now this is actually everything but Daryl and Iwona’s wedding, because, of course, I was in the wedding.  So I leave that to the professionals.

In Canada, the Christmas season sales generally start after Halloween.  I don’t like it, but I get it.  But I saw this sign in Zellers on the 3rd of November.  I’m sorry, that’s just silly.

For those who remember the sad story of the cat that wound up meeting his end in our engine…

This is what I found when I was checking fuses this morning.

But believe me, we carefully checked the location of every kitten before we left (and I checked under the hood before I started the van).

That kitten doesn’t know how close it came to being #2.

In Oregon we took a brief break from driving and made a visit to the West Coast Game Park Safari in Bandon, Oregon USA.  I’ll try to put up some photos later but… frankly, for some things you just need video!

I had a special request to feature this chicken run we saw on our blog.  They say it wasn’t as spectacular a run as usual, but – watching chickens run is always entertaining, in my opinion.  So, without further ado, from last week… the evening chicken run!!

This is a Chinese food place in the food court at a local mall.  As you can see, it’s called Hong Fat Chinese Express.  Are you inspired to come and try a little Chinese cuisine here in Ixtapaluca?
