A Visit to Venezuela continued . . .
January 2001
In spite of the fact that they could see the water in the distance from their house, the team had not been swimming in the month and a half since they had arrived. Well, even missionaries need a break every now and then, so we went for the afternoon while I was there. I'll leave the sun, water, and sand up to your imagination.
The climate in the part of Venezuela usually stays between 25 and 33 degrees Celsius. I told their coordinator, Judi, that us Canadians need a chance to cool off every now and then!
The team's fearless leader loves TexMex Doritos. The bodega (convenience store) down the hill is a great temptation.
The team also went for a day in Caracas while I was there. The capitol is a large, modern city with shopping malls just like the ones you would see in Canada. While I was there I tried Pabellon (Paw-baw-JONE), the national dish. It's black beans, plantain, flavoured rice and shredded chicken in sauce. Yum.
