It was a statutory holiday, as we say in Canada &#8211; a day off for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Benito-Juarez\">Benito Juarez<\/a>&#8216; birthday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-rounded\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"321\" src=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/rancholamesaprep.jpg\" alt=\"Preparing our site...\" class=\"wp-image-10481\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/rancholamesaprep.jpg 500w, https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/rancholamesaprep-300x193.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We couldn&#8217;t park close to the picnic area, but the park graciously provided us with wheelbarrows. So we rolled our tent and other supplies across the field, and we were all set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We got all the food ready, taking our cue from the words of Moses to Israel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>When the Lord your God enlarges your territory, as he has promised you, and you say, \u2018I will eat meat,\u2019 because you crave meat, you may eat meat whenever you desire.<\/p><cite>Deuteronomy 12:20<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/grilling-time.jpg\" alt=\"Grilling cactus and onion.\" class=\"wp-image-10482\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/grilling-time.jpg 500w, https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/grilling-time-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/grilling-time-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>And just to show that we didn&#8217;t neglect our veggies, here&#8217;s a picture of a little grilling in-between the meats &#8211; some nopal cactus and green onions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sausages and beef and of course our veggies all went into tacos, and I thought about what Heaven will be like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also had time for a game of <a href=\"http:\/\/kubbcanada.ca\/how-to-play\/\"><strong>kubb<\/strong><\/a>, which was fun even though my team lost. But don&#8217;t worry, the ball was recovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And a time of Scripture reading and testimonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a good time overall, with lots of talk about how to better serve the Lord and how to be accountable to one another &#8211; and even how to help and serve one another. Very encouraging!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to those who prayed for our time together.
