If you’ve been looking at all at our Yahoo! calendar<\/a>, you’ve seen a dizzying number of doctor’s appointments.  So what’s up with that, you may ask?<\/p>\n

For example, yesterday I was in 3 doctor’s offices, and one medical lab.  I left the medical lab and went right home.  Why?  Because Shari needed the van in order to go to her<\/i> doctor’s appointment.<\/p>\n

Next week, we already have 6 appointments, one of which I will have to reschedule.  Crazy.  So what’s up?<\/p>\n

Well, first of all you need to understand my penchant for generalization.  These aren’t just family doctors.  We’re talking dentists, chiropractors, optometrists, and so on.  Sometimes I just call them all doctors.
  <\/p>\n

  • First, it’s catch-up time.  When you’re busy and have no money, these things tend to pile up.  All of a sudden there are 17 routine things that you should have done long ago!<\/li>\n
  • Second, I’m getting treatment for migraine disease<\/a>.  Of course, there’s no cure, but there are ways to minimize attacks.  One treatment doesn’t seem to be working, although it’s in the right direction.  But since our insurance won’t cover a penny, we’ll have to leave it as a mystery for now whether more treatment would help.  This is the challenge of many chronic diseases – there are endless treatments, but few people have endless cash!\n

    The other treatment is<\/i> covered (well, except for $1 per visit.  Go figure), but the jury is still out on how effective it will be.<\/li>\n

  • Third, we had some insurance for the children that is running out, and we’re trying to get their needs taken care of while we still have coverage.<\/li>\n
  • Fourth, I’m taking care of a little injury I got while I was in Mexico.  Don’t ask.  Ok, you can ask, but I may or may not answer.<\/li>\n

    So that gives you an idea why we’re burning up the roads going all over town to various medical facilities.  It’s a temporary state of affairs (I hope!) – not particularly fun, but needed.  Ok, I have to admit, Hannah is<\/i> rather looking forward to going to the dentist next week… \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
