{"id":436,"date":"2006-06-06T07:04:32","date_gmt":"2006-06-06T13:04:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/2006\/what-have-we-been-doing.html"},"modified":"2007-02-11T07:39:11","modified_gmt":"2007-02-11T13:39:11","slug":"what-have-we-been-doing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/2006\/what-have-we-been-doing.html","title":{"rendered":"What have we been doing?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lots of people are wondering what we&#8217;ve been up to lately, so here&#8217;s a little glimpse:<br \/>\n<em>Sorting clothes and selling\/giving away what we don&#8217;t need \u00c2\u00a4 Updating our church website \u00c2\u00a4 Putting people from our mission in touch with a college here in Canada they may be able to work with \u00c2\u00a4 Checking to see what vital statistics the mission office may still need from us \u00c2\u00a4 Making comments on the developing of the new CAM website \u00c2\u00a4 Investigating what we&#8217;ll need in a van and trailer \u00c2\u00a4 Returning toys and clothes that we&#8217;ve borrowed from other families \u00c2\u00a4 Month end finances and reports \u00c2\u00a4 Doctors appointments \u00c2\u00a4 Updating a website I work on for another mission agency \u00c2\u00a4 Working on legal matters regarding finances out of the country \u00c2\u00a4 Discussing priorities for packing \u00c2\u00a4 Contacting people in Mexico about our travel plans \u00c2\u00a4 Scheduling upcoming church speaking engagements \u00c2\u00a4 Reading books that CAM requires us to read before we leave \u00c2\u00a4 Deciding on which books we&#8217;ll need to buy for language school \u00c2\u00a4 Preparing to speak \u00c2\u00a4 Groceries and cooking \u00c2\u00a4 Regular correspondence \u00c2\u00a4 Renewing van registration \u00c2\u00a4 Sorting out stuff in my closet, deciding what to move and what to throw away \u00c2\u00a4 Updating files on the laptop (preparing to get rid of our desktop computer)<\/em><\/p>\n<table width=\"283\" align=\"right\">\n<tr>\n<td><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"275\" vspace=\"4\" hspace=\"4\" height=\"248\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Sizing up the imaginary trailer\" src=\"\/images\/trailer-size.jpg\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>Just before this we sent out our newsletter, of course.  So that&#8217;s just a bit of what we&#8217;ve been up to since our last letter.<\/p>\n<p>The other day we were talking about sizes of trailers, so I marked out the size of a trailer we might get on the living room floor.  We&#8217;re trying to get an idea how much we might be able to bring with us when we move.  Hannah and Nathanael were quite helpful measuring things out and giving suggestions, as you can see.<\/p>\n<p>I think we need some kind of scanner that could scan our apartment and automatically tell us what would fit (and how).  In reality, we won&#8217;t really know until we actually try to fit it in on the day we leave.  But there are other issues &#8211; such as the duty we&#8217;ll have to pay at the Mexican border, and what will and will not survive such a long drive.
