Come to Mexico!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Most summers here our team has had the pleasure of hosting interns for 4, 6, or 8 weeks.<\/b>&nbsp;&nbsp;And more time and less time, but those are the official time frames for those coming for the internship program.<\/p>\n<p>It has generally been a very good experience for everyone. &nbsp;Interns and teams allow us to do things in the community that we couldn&#8217;t otherwise. &nbsp;Short termers with different experiences with the Lord, and of different ages (from kids to white-haired adventurers), can reach different people that we might never reach.<\/p>\n<table width=\"310\" align=\"right\">\n<tr>\n<td><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/images\/emerge-mexico.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"216\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Emerge Mexico 2013\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p><b>Actually, at our recent <a href=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/2013\/sendero-de-vida-jesus-maria-3-years.html\">anniversary service<\/a><\/b> I was reminded of the impact of short term missionaries. &nbsp;Though many (almost all?) have been impacted by short term teams, one lady shared that she had become connected to the church almost exactly a year ago.&nbsp;&nbsp;She started coming to the events we had when <a href=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/2012\/mi-team-a-look-back-and-forward-video-included.html\">the team<\/a> was here from Mirror Alliance and Innisfail Baptist (Alberta, Canada).<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, last year we had teams and interns from all three North American countries &#8211; <b>Canada<\/b>, the <b>United States<\/b>, <i>and<\/i> <b>Mexico<\/b>. &nbsp;As a matter of fact, this year <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faminter.org\/f_mexico.html\"><b>FAMex<\/b><\/a> (a Mexican mission agency) has teamed up with <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.caminoglobal.org\/go\/opportunities\/category\/length\/internship-4-8-weeks\/\">Camino Global<\/a><\/b> to invite Spanish speaking interns to join us again. &nbsp;There&#8217;s urban ministry in Guadalajara, music, art and sports around here, and outreach to indigenous (generally non-Spanish speaking, or groups that don&#8217;t speak Spanish as a first language) peoples in other parts of Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s exciting the opportunities that are available!<\/p>\n<p>Incidentally, I would love to see <b>a team of native believers from Canada<\/b> come down and do a two-part trip &#8211; an outreach to the community in Ixtapaluca and an outreach to a native village. &nbsp;Any takers? &nbsp;(Actually, I&#8217;ve already talked over the idea with a couple of people from FAMex, so it&#8217;s not idle talk&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, if you&#8217;d like to know more, here&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/resources\/emerge-2013.pdf\">the brochure<\/a> for English speakers, and here&#8217;s some <a href=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/resources\/famex-camino-2013.pdf\">information for Spanish speakers<\/a>. &nbsp;(Remember, this is just information for the internship programs. &nbsp;If you&#8217;d like to come as an individual, family, or team at another time or for a different period of time &#8211; <i><a href=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/contact-cottrills\">let&#8217;s talk<\/a>!<\/i>)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Most summers here our team has had the pleasure of hosting interns for 4, 6, or 8 weeks.&nbsp;&nbsp;And more time and less time, but those are the official time frames for those coming for the internship program.
