{"id":5186,"date":"2013-10-18T08:12:16","date_gmt":"2013-10-18T13:12:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/?p=5186"},"modified":"2013-10-27T08:20:29","modified_gmt":"2013-10-27T14:20:29","slug":"leaving-the-house-of-david","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/2013\/leaving-the-house-of-david.html","title":{"rendered":"Leaving &#8220;The House of David&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><center><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/images\/thisoldhouse.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"132\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Just about moved out\" \/><br \/><font size=\"-2\"><i>The rented house \u00e2\u20ac\u201c almost empty<\/i><\/font><\/center><br \/>Yesterday we climbed up and down the stairs of the rented house in Jes\u00c3\u00bas Mar\u00c3\u00ada countless times.&nbsp; We moved a desk, an electric typewriter, books, crayons, song books, and old blankets as we prepared to move out.<\/p>\n<table width=\"310\" align=\"right\">\n<tr>\n<td><center><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/images\/before-first-service.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Before the first service\"><br \/><font size=\"-2\"><i>David and Rod prepare for the first service<\/i><\/font><\/center><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p><b>We started renting this house before the church in JM even started meeting.<\/b>&nbsp; In March 2010, we met there for <a href=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/2010\/the-first-worship-service-in-jesus-maria.html\">a Sunday service for the first time<\/a>, packing it out.&nbsp; (Actually, I was sick that day, and missed the big event!)<\/p>\n<p>It was a great location, right on the corner of two busy streets.&nbsp; But the owner never wanted to sell, so we kept renting.<\/p>\n<p>In an effort to save money, and in hopes that we&#8217;ll soon have a new place to meet, the church leadership decided to stop renting the house this month. &nbsp;But \u00e2\u20ac\u201c oh the memories!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Of our friend David, who lived in the house and helped with the church plant until <a href=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/2011\/sending-a-missionary.html\">going to Uruguay<\/a> as a missionary.
