{"id":868,"date":"2008-11-28T18:53:47","date_gmt":"2008-11-28T23:53:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/?p=868"},"modified":"2008-11-28T11:44:01","modified_gmt":"2008-11-28T16:44:01","slug":"good-things-happening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/2008\/good-things-happening.html","title":{"rendered":"Good things happening&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s a lot of good news to report. &nbsp;Here&#8217;s a sampling:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On the 24th of November, two friends of ours were in an accident. &nbsp;Alejandro and David were heading out from Ixtapaluca into Mexico City. &nbsp;Coming over the hill and around the corner, Alejandro saw totally stopped traffic and hit the brakes. &nbsp;The brakes didn&#8217;t respond right away, and then locked, sending them into the concrete divider. &nbsp;The van spun around, then tipped onto the driver&#8217;s side.\n<p>You would think they would have hit other vehicles, that another vehicle would have hit them from behind, and that they would be pretty hurt. &nbsp;Amazingly, none of that happened. &nbsp;Some other men helped them get the van up again, and when the police and ambulance drivers came asking where the accident was, David joked that it must have been further up the road!<\/p>\n<p>The people of our church are thanking God for His protection in a situation which could have been far worse. &nbsp;Read more in Rod&#8217;s post <a href=\"http:\/\/ixtapalucafryed.blogspot.com\/\">Miracle Crash<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>\n<table width=\"260\" align=\"right\">\n<tr>\n<td><a href=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/gallery\/f\/greg-and-shelli\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/images\/neufelds-in-ixtapaluca.jpg\" width=\"250\" height=\"375\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Neufelds in Ixtapaluca\"><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>It&#8217;s been &quot;Canadians month&quot; around here. &nbsp;Canadians are creatures we very rarely see, but this month you may remember we enjoyed a visit from <a href=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/2008\/amigos-de-canad.html\">the Knightly family<\/a>, and were also able to see <a href=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/2008\/our-weekend-in-cuernavaca.html\">the Lidstones<\/a> in Cuernavaca.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday our friends the Neufelds came to visit. &nbsp;Greg and Shelli are Canadians living in Hermosillo, Mexico (waaaaaay up in the northern desert). &nbsp;You can visit <a href=\"http:\/\/knowgst.ca\/\">the Neufeld&#8217;s website here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It was in part a celebration of an anniversary. &nbsp;15 years ago in November, a team known as Friends &amp; Followers (<i>Amigos y Seguidores<\/i>) arrived in Mexico. &nbsp;Shelli, Shari and I and 7 others were on that team, and we spent 5 months in Mexico, including some time with Rod Fry.<\/p>\n<p>We went out to eat at a restaurant called <i>Espartacos<\/i>, and had a delicious meal and a great time, although it was far too short. &nbsp;But it was great to see them, and also our friend Antonio Mu\u00c3\u00b1oz who came along for the ride from Mexico City.<\/li>\n<li>I already told you that our upstairs leak was fixed &#8211; we&#8217;re very thankful for that!<\/li>\n<li>Recently I got together with some men from the church as we talked about the vision for the activities in Christmas, leadership in many areas of service, and vision for making disciples and seeing new churches in areas nearby. &nbsp;Its wonderful to see the Lord planting creativity and excitement for His work in the hearts of people here. &nbsp;The next few months will be important both for us personally and the work here in Ixtapaluca as many plans are made.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s a lot of good news to report. &nbsp;Here&#8217;s a sampling: On the 24th of November, two friends of ours were in an accident. &nbsp;Alejandro and David were heading out from Ixtapaluca into Mexico City. &nbsp;Coming over the hill and around the corner, Alejandro saw totally stopped traffic and hit the brakes. &nbsp;The brakes didn&#8217;t [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6,18],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-868","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-ministry-glimpses","category-prayer-and-praise","has-post-title","has-post-date","has-post-category","has-post-tag","has-post-comment","has-post-author",""],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
