Ok, it&#8217;s the <strong>Guerrero Chimalli<\/strong>, or the <em>Chimalli Warrior<\/em>, in the municipality of Chimalhuac\u00c3\u00a1n, Mexico City (in Mexico State). At 60 metres high, it dwarfs the 46 metre Statue of Liberty (that&#8217;s the statue, without the base), and weighs in at 600 tonnes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"470\" height=\"470\" src=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/guerrero-chimalli.jpg\" alt=\"Guerrero Chimalli\" class=\"wp-image-9433\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/guerrero-chimalli.jpg 470w, https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/guerrero-chimalli-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/cottrillcompass.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/guerrero-chimalli-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 470px) 100vw, 470px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>So Shari and I went on a date, and visited the warrior himself. You can ride an elevator up to a lookout &#8211; at about the height of the fellow&#8217;s shoulder. There&#8217;s a little museum inside, explaining the history of some of the indigenous cultures of the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the highlight is probably the incredible views of the city. This is one of his newest works, just finished in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A &#8220;chimalli&#8221;, by the way, is a traditional shield, used sometimes for defence and sometimes just for decoration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can see his shield in front, and then another arm coming around to hold the torch.
