Curtains!

Unlike our house in Cuernavaca, this house has a lot of windows. And when we moved in, it had no curtains or blinds.

Also unlike our home in Cuernavaca, there are a lot of windows of other houses facing ours – some a few feet away, others a few yards away.

So, we need curtains. But, as you know – time and expense! 🙂

But we’re getting started! Two rooms now have a complete set of curtains. Hannah’s room, and our room. We also have a blind in our dining room window, thanks to the help of Shari’s Dad. 🙂

Ixtapaluca makes the News

There certainly hasn’t been a lot of good news coming out of Mexico in the last few weeks, so it probably shouldn’t be a surprise that when Ixtapaluca makes the news, it’s not good.

Our Municipal President (ie the head guy in Ixtapaluca), Mario Moreno Conrado, was arrested yesterday outside of his home here in Ixtapaluca. He’s under investigation by SIEDO, an official organization that monitors organized crime. Though I haven’t heard official reports, it sounds like the arrest was made due to links with organized crime such as kidnappings and drug trafficking.

Just another reminder to pray for Mexico, the leadership here, and the church here.

Friends from Canada – briefly.

It’s actually a very long story how this all happened. But we were hoping to have some friends visiting here in Ixtapaluca for a few days from Canada.

In the end, the visit was shortened down to about …

20 minutes.

Yes, we met them at the airport in Mexico City in between flights yesterday – we walked them from one gate to another.

Well, it was better than nothing! We got to see the Farrs and their two beautiful children who are growing up so fast.

Chad returned (briefly) to Mexico city after over 15 years. Chad was with Shari and I in Mexico waaaay back in *gasp* 1993. He was the leader of our team. Now he’s got another team – his family. But this time, they’re on holidays – going to Cancún.

Have a great time, guys!

Next time, come stay a little longer…

Update on today’s prayer requests

I can give you a bit of an update on the prayer requests from the last post.

First, Alejandra and her new healthy little girl are doing well. 🙂 Apparently they are under special observation for the next 24 hours, since there were some issues, but it sounds like they’ll be fine. I’m sure the family appreciates you’re prayers!

Shari was helping Hannah with homework earlier, but was able to get some rest later in the evening. Hopefully this bug will pass by quickly!

Nathanael and I went to the doctor. It looks like the infection got into his ears (only one ear was bothering him). So he’s got medicine going in his ears (drops), mouth (liquid), up his nose (spray) and … well … he had an injection too. But I’ll let him tell you where he got that, if he wants.

So he’s getting one more shot tomorrow – hopefully all this will clear up the infection quickly.

And after about 3 hours of sleep last night, and varying amounts since Saturday … well, I’m ready for some sleep.
