Where? Party hall “The Happy Corner”, Palmas 1, beside High School #161.

You’ll have fun. There will be games and much more!

Does that sound great, or what??

This is just one of the activities will be taking place in three different communities this week, with a team from Word of Life Mexico! I’m not sure I have all the terms right, but I think this is part of their ministry called “Fusion Zone”.

I think they’re doing a presentation called “The Great Escape”, but we’ll learn more in a few days.

The team will also be helping out at our service on Sunday, with the kids. Someone from the team will also be sharing God’s Word with the adults.

The fun starts at the first event – 7pm on Friday – and continues until the above event is over.

God likes nomads.

Earlier this month we had to give up a house we had rented in the community of Las Palmas. Since 2013, our team has rented this place to house visiting teams and interns, to hold Bible studies and kids’ clubs, and to store church supplies (since we have no building).

But the owner contacted us to tell us that they had to leave their other house, and so they needed this one to live in.

So, we moved out of the house, affectionately known as “Kerpis” (after the street name), and temporarily farmed out the furniture and supplies to various people’s houses. We do hope to rent again, but for now, the ministry has no permanent location.

In some ways, we could see the providence of the move. Although it’s obviously inconvenient, we’ve been enjoying doing our Bible study at alternate locations.

Friday kids' study in Las PalmasTwo of the families in the church have locations that are very conducive to our Friday night study. And the bonus is, we’re connecting (and in some cases reconnecting) with some of the kids in another area of Las Palmas.

Cupcake ConesShari is encouraged to see what the kids are learning at the Friday study. They’re really interested and asking great questions. God does some interesting things when you’re nomadic!

Tomorrow I’ll be going alone to preach at a sister church about an hour north of here, while Shari and Hannah help with the Sunday School in Las Palmas. We certainly would appreciate your prayers as we share the gospel at two locations tomorrow!

Would You Help Us Get Some Bibles?

Would you like to help our church in a practical way? We need some Bibles!

Every Friday we have a Bible study with both adults and children from our church, and of course we have services and Sunday school on Sundays. Shari is in charge of the children’s ministry at the church, and she puts hours into making sure the kids are getting teaching that is biblical and fun!

On Friday, we’re just starting a new program to help the kids understand the Scriptures from beginning to end. We want to make sure that every child has a Bible to open and learn from every week. So we’re trying to get a set of Bibles (in Spanish, of course – the version is NBLH) that we can use each week.

NBLHThese Bibles can be shipped to our door for about US$15.55 or CA$19.61 each (including shipping) from Amazon.com. At the moment we need 6 Bibles, but of course if we get more we can use them for the adults and for more kids as the church grows. So if you like, you could get a single Bible, or get them all for around $100 or so.

Baptisms (and Anniversary Service)

As most of you know by now, last Sunday was a very special service! It was the 8th anniversary of the Path of Life Bible Church in the community of Jesús María. But it was also a joint service – between the church in Jesús María and the new church in Las Palmas.

12 people were baptized on Sunday, from both churches. This was the first baptism service for the Las Palmas church (although some people in the church had been baptized before we officially started meeting.

Nathanael was the 12th disciple to be baptized. 🙂

I made up this video – about 4 minutes – to share with you, and also to show this morning to those who missed the service. It’s in Spanish, of course, so I’ll explain briefly.

This took place in the new baptismal tank in the new sanctuary in the church, so you can see the progress that has been made.

At the beginning, Pastor Ismael explained the theme – the unity of all believers. So you’ll see that. He shares a verse – you might be able to figure out what it is!

I would have posted more from the service, but so much was music-based, and YouTube gets skittish about that kind of thing because of copyright issues.

But there was congregational singing, there was a special women’s choir, participation from kids and youth, and Rod preached.

Afterwards, Ismael explains a bit about baptism, and then the baptisms begin!

It’s hard to get a picture, though I tried — but basically most people crowded around the stage to watch, with a few actually on the stage – those are the ones you will mostly see toward the end.

These are 12 people to pray for – and people that many of you have been praying for! Enjoy!

Congratulations to the 12 people from 2 churches who were baptized today! Seven were from the church plant in Las Palmas. I’ll try to get some photos and video online in a week or so. Exciting day!!

And… special congratulations to Nathanael, who was baptized today! 🙂

Prayer Request: An Important Sunday!

Every Sunday is important, of course, but this coming Sunday is a big one!

Not only that, but – well, many of you know the feeling when the spiritual battle seems to be unusually close to the surface, and the challenges are mounting and you just know you need to pray more than ever? Well, here we are.

This Sunday, the 25th of March, is the 8th anniversary of the Path of Life Bible Church in Jesús María (Iglesia Bíblica Sendero de Vida Jesús María). Can you believe it? Exciting!

So we’ll be meeting in their still-under-construction sanctuary to celebrate.

So do pray for the church and their preparations for the big event (and yes, it will be a big event!). Pray for all the things you would pray for in your own church – unity in the Spirit, growth in the knowledge of God, a new love for one another and the Lord (Ephesians 4:1-7; Philippians 1:9-11).

Baptism in Jesús María 2016This service will also be a baptism service for both churches. That means that this will be the first baptism service of the Path of Life Bible Church of Las Palmas (although we have baptized some in this church, but it was not at a service of the church. It was before we started officially meeting.)! As you might imagine, there is a lot of spiritual opposition when someone wants to declare their faith in the Lord publicly.

So please pray for every person who is preparing to be baptized, and for their family and their church. That God would work in each heart, and maybe even bring more to Himself through this service.

Maybe some of you would like to make this a daily item of prayer this week. We sure would appreciate it!
