Hi everyone!
I’m just stopping by again to catch you up on the news. First of all – all of you in the Calgary area that we haven’t seen yet, don’t forget we will be in Calgary this Sunday! We’ll be at the South Calgary Chinese Evangelical Free Church at 11am. It will be a special Thanksgiving service – I’ll be sharing about Mexico and preaching as well. Don’t worry, the service is in English (if you want to go to the Mandarin service, I’ll be sharing about Mexico through a translator – 9:30am).
By the way, I remember one time when we were at the SCCEFC and I lost my song… ah the memories!
For details on our other events in Alberta, check out our Tour 2011 page. There may be another event or two added in the next week or two.
The search for a van continues. I looked at one possibility, but it just wouldn’t fit into our price range no matter how hard I pushed and shoved and crammed. I’ve searched out some other possibilities in person and online, but nothing yet. Thanks so much to those who are praying!
We had a great time up in Glendon last weekend – thanks to everyone there for your encouragement and fellowship! I hope we can do it again! 🙂
So that’s the story for now. From here on in we’re going to be doing more travelling around – continuing, of course, with travel all the way to Mexico! But not yet…
Yeah, so I’m technically posting this a day late, but I have to admit October kind of snuck up on me. Kind of ironic when I kept thinking that it was October in September. Is Hallowe’en a month long celebration now?
Anyway, here we are with the most popular posts from the last 90 days. As has become the tradition, I’ve put them in chronological order. The most popular ones are in bold.
Hi everyone!
I just thought I’d drop by to give an update on what’s been going on. It’s been quite an interesting couple of weeks, no doubt about it! 🙂
For one thing, we’ve been trying to get through some doctor/dentist/etc appointments. Nothing major, just some things we’ve been planning to do while we’re in the province. So far they’ve been useful, positive appointments. We haven’t completely fallen apart from old age (not that our kids are that old!).
We had some great times with friends in Calgary. On the 21st we had a "Mexican Fiesta" night, which was a blast thanks to a very lively crowd. 😉 We played and ate and prayed and talked and generally had a great time. Too bad it had to end!
On Sunday we were at First Evangelical Free Church, where I had the chance to preach and share a little about Mexico. It was great to see friends there again – thanks, everyone, for your encouragement!
I could sit around saying thank you to people on this blog all the time. But it would start sounding like the end of a wedding reception, so I’ll try not to go overboard.
We’re also busy working on our childrens’ education. Nathanael in particular, who has been doing school at home since January, but Hannah too. This morning we have a meeting with an extremely official person to talk about some ideas.
Yesterday I started the vehicle search in earnest. You may ask, why haven’t they bought a vehicle yet? Well, this is simply the time we always planned to start looking, so we’re right on schedule in that regard.
For various reasons we decided to replace our 2003 Astro (some of those reasons have to do with driving restrictions in Mexico City on vehicles of a certain age). So we’re looking for – not sure what – something fairly sturdy, with lots of seats to haul people around, and seats that come out so that we can haul lots of stuff around. Yes, a 2008 Astro would be perfect – but such a thing does not exist! 🙂
And… the vehicle we want in our price range may not exist either! 🙂
But we’ll keep looking and keep praying for the vehicle God has in store for our future ministry in Mexico.
And, of course, regular life goes on – grocery shopping, laundry, taking care of the kids…
This Sunday we’ll be at Glendon Evangelical Church. It’s going to be one fun Sunday – packed with activities, because it’s a fall conference. I’ll be preaching three times, leading Sunday School, we’ll be singing in three services and even sharing about Mexico in there a couple of times.
And, I’m hoping to have some real perogies. I have to admit it. You just don’t see that kind of thing in Mexico. 🙂
Then we’re back in Calgary for the Sunday after.
Hope we can see many of you at these events!
