Back from Camp Little Red
On Saturday we zoomed out of town in the ’83 Pontiac Phoenix (sky blue) to camp! We spent a few days as a family out at Camp Little Red. I was the camp speaker, which was a lot of fun. I spoke on Joseph (the Genesis Joe!) and shared the Gospel and gave lotsa challenges to the 8-10 year olds.
It was also a great time to catch up with friends, especially for Shari who knew far more people than I did. Shari even counselled there for a summer.
If you live in Alberta check this camp out! It’s a great place that’s well run. I was very impressed! (and I’ve spent time at about 8 different camps, so I know of what I speak) 🙂
It was good for us to get away from all the daily pressures too. I was pretty busy most of the time with the campers and preparing for the stories I told (I told pretty much the whole story of Joseph in almost every detail, so it took a bit of work!), and Shari kept busy running after Hannah who was thrilled to have such easy access to the outdoors! (Normally she has to go out the door, down the hall, down the stairs, across the landing, out the door, and down more stairs before she actually gets to solid outdoor ground!) We stayed in a beautiful one room cabin and she just had to swing upen the door (which she could do by herself) and there she was. She loves the swimming and running around and eating outside.
Only God knows how the campers were impacted, but several did make confessions of faith. I even got to lead a guy to the Lord myself! So as you can imagine we were pretty excited about our trip.
Now that we’re home we’ve been working hard at month end/month beginning catchup, and now we’re finally able to take a breath and plan for the next couple of months. Well, maybe we’ll take a breath after the weekend! We’re going to the farewell service for Friends & Followers (one of VTI’s teams – the last one that we helped to train!) in Cremona, and also visiting some friends in the area.
As an added bonus, a cousin of Shari’s is going to be in the area, so we’ll get a chance to visit him. His name is Phil, and he’s a youth pastor at the Country Hills Evangelical Missionary Church of Kitchener, Ontario Canada.
