Global Focus, Briercrest
I’m at Global Focus in Caronport, Saskatchewan Canada. It’s been pretty good so far, but we’re less than 24 hours into it. I’m here to represent CAM and try to encourage people and be a little part of their journey (wow, did that sound scripted?). I’ve been able to have some good talks with a few people, and Lord willing I can have some more. Sometimes it’s hard to know how to encourage people, especially when they don’t have any idea where they want to head. But, of course, that’s the nature of humanity – we usually don’t know what we really want and especially what we really need!
But it’s been fun. They have some pavillions here representing different parts of the world. They run 3 times over the weekend for about an hour or so. I’ve been hanging out in the Latin American pavillion (it’s actually called the Total Cultural Experience), playing soccer (which is, of course, football. Hey, did you hear how well the Canadian team did in Portland, by the way??) and getting involved a little in some other activities. They’re serving salsa and nacho chips (even though several of the missionaries said,”Wow, I wish I could buy salsa chips in [whatever country]!” And for drinks, the very culturally appropriate pop-in-a-bag (although they’re not serving “real” Coke *sniff*). Anyway, that’s fun and just another little way to introduce another culture.
It looks like the seminars just finished, so perhaps I’ll go and see if I can connect with some more folks. Pray, if you think of it, for discipling opportunities and that God would work in hearts during the rest of the weekend. Bye for now!
