Life Update
It’s been a while since I’ve written so I thought I would stop by for a quick update on life in general.
The last couple of weeks have been very busy, but good. I’m going to enjoy the day today and then I’ll enjoy tomorrow – tomorrow is a holiday here – “Family Day”. So it will be a good chance to relax and spend a little “family time”. (ok, spending time with Hannah is not what some would call relaxing. But it fits with the most recent word she’s learned – “fun”)
We’ve been doing ministry in the area lately – preaching, singing, sharing . . . it’s been good. That’s very much what our next few months will look like, with a little training added in. We have several books to get through, and I have a couple of courses to take.
Right now I’m just finishing “On Being a Missionary” by Thomas Hale. It’s pretty good. I can’t say I agree with everything; I think he could used his space well to back up a few more things with Scripture. However, most of it is pretty good. This is a book for people who have already decided to go to the mission field. It’s strength is that it’s very practical – it’s like he’s just come over to visit and chat about some of the struggles and joys you may face on the mission field. Perhaps the emphasis is on the struggles – but it’s supposed to give you some forwarning and mistakes to avoid.
Anyway, we’re excited about ministry here and building partnerships that will make the ministry in Mexico possible. We’ll see what happens in the days ahead!
