Newsletters and Mexico Teams
You’ll be glad to hear that our van is running again (a few hundred dollars later!), although I admit it’s making some suspicious new noises. Hopefully it will keep on keeping on for a little while yet.
We’ve been busy lately getting our latest newsletter out. Many of you have likely just got it, or will be getting it in the next week or so. There are a handful we’re just now finishing up.
We usually try to keep the work on the newsletter to a minimum. I remember our friend (and past director at VTI) Len Lane saying that if you’re spending more than a day on your newsletter, it’s too much. In other words, you oughtta be doing the ministry that you’re writing about!
Of course, our newsletter is part of our ministry. Not only in the obvious ways – we also like to sometimes pray for you when we send your letter. It’s a great chance to think of you and your family and talk to God about you.
These days it does take more than a day; at VTI our letters were printed, stuffed and mailed by our office staff. So these are a little more work. But compared to our average newsletters, this one was a massive undertaking! It was more like 3 newsletters rolled into one…or more! But we thought it was especially worth it. It’s a rare chance to give you a special insight into what God is doing in Mexico, and why we’re excited about being there.
Alas, even with all the extras, a newsletter is so limited. But we hope to put more on the website in the future, and have time with many of you to share more details. Lord willing we can visit some churches and small groups and give you a bit more of a taste of Mexico. Let us know if you’re interested in hearing more!
I just talked to somebody from University Drive Alliance Church . They went to the Pan de Vida orphanage just after our team was there. I’m hoping that we can meet the team and see their presentation – it’s 7:00pm on the 29th of August, if anyone out there is interested! (The website says 7:30pm, but Sharon, the secretary, set me straight.)
