Two Days with the Team
It’s been a couple of days since we picked up the team from Troy, Michigan. They’re a great group, and they’re really doing a great job so far.
Activities so far
One corner of a flyer from the plaza showing some of the events we’re involved in. Above showing the 2nd anniversary (which the concert was a part of). Below the pastorela (Christmas play) that the church people are doing. |
They were introduced at the service yesterday morning, and in the evening we went to the plaza for their big concert.
There are other groups performing at the plaza this week – it’s their big 2nd anniversary celebration (the plaza’s). Before the team was another group with dancing girls. A hard act to follow, but the team did great (and were all modestly dressed too). 😉
I’m sure hundreds of people were around to hear the concert. Team members not performing were out handing out flyers for the music classes and the English classes.
The team did some Christmas carols and other Jesus-focused music in English. Laura, who will be in concert with her band along with the team on Friday, sang a bit as well. Luis warmed up the crowd with some comedy in Spanish, and some free give-aways from the plaza.
As I write the team is involved in music classes at the plaza, and English classes at the church building. There are a few people at each – I have a feeling there will be more as the week goes on. The English classes are going well – I don’t have a report on the music classes yet. 🙂
Accident!
Last night Rod was driving with some people in his van with a couple of team members and a couple of people from the church. He was rear ended by a small bus. Thankfully, no one was hurt beyond a bump or bruise, and the situation was dealt with without too many problems with the bus driver.
We can’t take our safety for granted – we thank God for His protection – not only last night, but through all the many kilometres that we’ve driven.
Please do continue to pray for us and the team!
On the home front
We’re busy getting ready for events with the children this week. Hannah is involved in a Sunday School performance, and we need to buy an outfit for that. And, of course, both have school Christmas programs this week. So lots more to come!
There are a few new photos in the Photo Gallery – check them out!
