New Year and sick kids
Happy 2007 to you all! I hope your New Year’s Day is filled with all the hope that comes from knowing a loving and wise God.
Our 2007 has been off to a sleep-deprived start, as has many peoples’. But ours was for a different reason – we’ve been up for 3 … or is it 4? … a few nights with sick kids. Our sick kids. First it was Nathanael. We thought maybe he’d just had a little too much sun. He had a rough night, but then started to show improvement. Then it was Hannah. She had a rough night, and a rough day yesterday, either sleeping or bored (because she was too tired to do much). However, as the day wore on she seemed somewhat improved.
Then last night, the healthiest child (Nathanael) was once again sick. So it’s been a few days of constant laundry, cleaning, and trying to keep Hannah and Nathanael entertained when they weren’t feeling up to normal play. We’ve used a lot of extra gas (to heat our water) and a lot of extra water (that means we’ve had to turn on the pump a few times).
Now Shari has joined the ranks of the sick family members. And me? Well, that’s an older story we won’t get into today!
Needless to say, our plans for the last few days have changed quite a bit from what they were originally. We were especially sorry to miss Sunday morning worship. We also were actually going to go to a little fiesta yesterday with some friends, and were sorry to miss that. We had plans for today too, but – ! Of course our new plan is to get everyone feeling better, and actually get a little rest. Perhaps tonight?
I was just about to write that they’re all still sleeping, and that’s a good sign, but I was a little slow getting to the next paragraph – everyone’s waking up now. Hopefully they’ll be feeling better soon – if not, we know where a good doctor is.
I hope your new year has started better, but however it started, I leave you again with the words of Paul: Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s His power, His hope, and His joy – in 2007 just the same!
