Welcome to Dallas!

Hi! Just wanted to let y’all know that we arrived in Dallas. Our flights went fairly well, although things went somewhat downhill after we arrived. But you’ll be glad to know that the shuttle driver found CAM eventually, Hannah finally stopped crying, and our luggage arrived safely the next day.

Actually, Hannah had an excellent trip up until the last 10 minutes of the bus ride, and then decided she’d had it! But she has had a few days now to get back into a routine and she’s doing well. I think all the wonderful toys and other kids to play with are a little overwhelming for her – she never wants to stop playing! 😉 But she’s doing well.

We also had time to recover, and are doing well. I’m just taking a quick break here from our Candidate Orientation. We’ve been learning about some of CAM’s values. The importance, for example, of letting the Lord change your life, and not just focusing on ministry and getting things “done”. Next we’re having a tour of CAM Center. They have a nice place here and we’re enjoying our stay.

For those of you who haven’t been to Dallas and may think we’re sweltering in the sun, it’s rather cold and rainy. Similar to the way Calgary sometimes is this time of year, but Calgary is of course usually a lot drier.

It’s been a cultural experience. Our first day here I went to the grocery store, and found that I didn’t know where to go in, couldn’t find the brands or even food I wanted, didn’t know how the carts worked and couldn’t figure out how to check out! But slowly we’re getting oriented to the American culture. It’s been 9 years since we’ve been to Dallas, and so it’s taking time to remember some things.

Anyway, I really have to run now. Thanks for those who are praying. Keep praying that we’ll be able to keep Hannah rested and fed, and that we’ll be able to pace ourselves and learn what we need to learn while we’re here.

Goodbye for now!
