First Free Fiesta
Last night we were at a Mexican fiesta. Green, white and red were everywhere, and lots of delicious desserts and friends to talk to. Actually, this was a fiesta put on by our church (Calgary’s First Evangelical Free Church) missions committee, at the end of a month-long fundraiser that they surprised us with.
I can’t say enough what an encouragement our church has been to us through it all. When we first came to the church we were missionaries with VTI, and they’ve been a support and encouragement through our transition into ministry with CAM International. Thanks to everyone who came out!
It was a music and dessert night, so we enjoyed a lot of the talent from our church, from piano music to sign language to vocals to fiddle music. It really was a night we’ll remember as we face challenges in our new home in Mexico. I shared 1Co 15:57-58 , a familiar passage but a great promise of God which is always good to remember. Our service to the Lord really is worth something – not because of us, but because of His power. It’s always been an encouragement to me to be surrounded by people at our church who are willing to let God work through them.
