A full weekend (gifts, keys and a ball)
There was a lot going on this past weekend. On Saturday, our local church hosted a Mexico City and area women’s conference. Actually, it was held in Nathanael’s school.
Our worship group was playing for a couple of music times, so we set up Friday night and had a little practice.
Groups of women from many churches came to the conference, many from our church (including Shari of course!). I think in the end there were around 80 there. The theme was how to love unconditionally.
A couple of women from our church invited some family members who were not believers, and were so excited that they actually came. One of their family members shared how happy they felt, and how much they were enjoying the conference, and how they were interested in coming to more activities in the future.
Jim preaching on Sunday |
I think the Lord is working there!
On Sunday I played the keyboard in the band, and then preached. The sermon topic was given to me – Romans 6:1-7. We’re preaching through Romans right now.
It was a challenging passage to preach on. Being an introduction to a major section of Romans, a lot of the "answers" come later on in the book. Of course there was also the challenge of preaching in broken, heavily accented Spanish! But I have to trust the Lord to use something. I sure learnt a lot. 🙂
We were able to take it easy a bit Sunday afternoon, resting up for another full week.
Thanks for your prayers! And yes, the ball was part of the sermon. Too bad you weren’t here to find out what it was for. Want to come next Sunday? 😉
