A New “30 days” Project! (Want to join me?)
So it’s been about 30 days since my last (and only) 30 day project. So I’ve been thinking about doing another one – and I think I’ll give it a try.
So the plan, starting today, is to memorize 30 verses in 30 days.
I haven’t done a lot of word-for-word memorization lately, and Chuck and Karla Topp did such a great job at camp teaching verses to the kids, I thought it was about time I got some verses memorized.
Now, here’s what I’m going to do. Naturally I’ll be memorizing in Spanish. Now there are some verses I’ve already memorized, but I’m going to start from scratch. That way I’ll make sure I know even the basic ones really well.
Here’s the plan:
- I’m making cue cards with the one verse on each in my preferred version (NBLH), which is what I’ll memorize, with the same verse on the back in the RV60 version for reference (because it’s the most common version here).
- There will only be one verse each day, but sometimes I’ll learn 2-3 consecutive verses on consecutive days. Most of the time I’m trying to avoid just memorizing part of a sentence!
- I’ll try to post about each of the verses on the day I’m memorizing it, if I can. If I can’t, I’ll just post about it when I can.
- I’m trying to choose verses that will be especially useful here.
I’ve actually already tentatively chosen the verses. The first thing I noticed is that 30 verses is not very many! There are so many very common verses that I had to leave out – I mean verses that almost every Christian would at least be familiar with. But hey, I don’t have to stop forever after 30 verses, do I?
If you’d like to join me, you’ll find the template for the first 11 verses here (pdf format). I would love to hear about it if you are going to memorize them too! It’s ok if you start on day 2… or 3… or whatever.
I’m honestly not sure how this will go – if I’ll find it too hard or too easy … but that’s all part of the adventure, isn’t it?
