Memory Verse Day 12: Better just to admit it…
(1Juan 1:9 NBLH)
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
(1John 1:9 ESV)
Of course this is a very familiar passage written by the apostle John to believers.
It’s in the middle of a magnificent passage about the coming of the Son and our fellowship with Him. If we have fellowship with Him (and one another), that means we will walk in the light. That doesn’t mean that we no longer sin – if we say we have no sin we’re deceiving ourselves. However, if we confess our sins – and that’s the verse of the day. If we say we have no sin, John continues, we make God a liar.
If we do sin, we have an advocate – Jesus Christ. Again, John comes back to the Gospel – we as believers need it – all through life – we need to remember that there is forgiveness.
