Outreach Downtown (wow)
Today our group (from the Tuesday night Bible study on evangelism) went to the city square in Ixtapaluca. Our goal? To put into practice what we’ve been learning!
In a nutshell? We’re praising the Lord!
First of all, we’re learning. I think we have identified some areas that we need to think about more and practise more, and that was a part of the purpose of the morning.
However – – – praise the Lord! Everyone was talking to people about the Lord. I went with a woman from the church – we went in twos, although everyone brought a kid or two with them for security. 😉
Anyway, the two of us had really excellent conversations with 5 people. And we were able to share the Gospel with all of them.
I spoke for quite some time with two men who I think were bicycle taxi drivers. Just a really good talk – and we were really able to get down to talking about what Jesus did for us – and why it’s so important for them.
We also had some good conversations with some women, with my friend doing the majority of the talking (and doing an excellent job!). As she said to one woman – we did not meet these people “by chance”. She was able to have a great talk with a woman who was having some struggles similar to struggles my friend had had in the past. And so they were able to relate – and there were tears and hugs.
If you want, you can pray for the five people she and I talked to – I won’t put their names up here, but there were two men and three women.
This is the first of two “field trips” that are specifically “homework” for our study. Lord willing in the next couple of weeks we’ll be going again.
But there’s no doubt that God worked today – we can see it most clearly in the fact that he took weak (and maybe scared!) people like us and allowed us to share from His Word. Praise the Lord with us!
