William Tyndale
Recently I was reminded of the words of William Tyndale, the Englishman who was martyred for his faith nearly half a millennium ago. He was the first to do a translation of the Bible from Hebrew and Greek into English, although he did not complete it. His translation has heavily influenced English Bibles up to today.

If God spares me life, ere many years I will cause a boy that drives the plough to know more of the Scripture than you do.
What a goal – to give everyone the Scriptures – to help even the poorest and youngest to know them well.
