The van
And now, the van story! Many of you know that we had some expensive car repairs over the month of March. In fact, we spent almost double what we paid for the car itself. Now our car doesn’t really owe us anything – it’s 21 years old and we’ve had it for seven years, travelled all over the country with it, and done very few actual repairs – mostly just normal maintenance. However, we realized that we were just going to have to get a new vehicle if we were going to go to Ontario in the fall.
Fast forward several days later. Out of the blue we got a call from a friend at VTI who wanted to sell us his van at a discount. Great, we thought. Except, we have no money! Now, fast forward about 5 or 10 minutes later. Also out of the blue, the chair of our missions committee called and asked if there was any way the church could help us out. Well, this was just too much of a coincidence to not mention it, so I brought up the phone call that I’d just gotten.
Fast forward a day or two later. We found out that the church is going to make a project to raise money for the van. Within a couple of weeks we had enough to pay for the van and even some of the needed repairs! Praise the Lord!
We’re just starting to use the van now, and it’s a huge blessing. Room enough for luggage for all four of us, and it’s in pretty good shape (it’s about 11 years old). So Lord willing we’ll be able to take this van to Ontario in the fall. So there you go! That’s the story.
