Drawing near
This verse was on a card that was given to me by the church family at the Calgary Chinese Evangelical Free Church yesterday. Isn’t it strange that we sometimes have the hardest time drawing near to God when we need Him most? Well, when we’re hardened and confused by sin – I can understand why we would want to avoid the light. But when we’re just confused or tired or losing hope – we forget He’s a loving Father who wants to help us.Anyway, we got a warm welcome at the church yesterday. It was our first visit, and I hope not our last. It was great to worship together, especially after another very difficult week at the Cottrill household.
As we head into the new week, we continue to pray for a new van (especially since we have had something else go wrong with the old one!). I have one or two leads on a van – I wish I had more, but of course all it takes is one good one! I’m just waiting for a call, and I’ll have a look at it.
We’ve also had some challenges with the kids, which I won’t get into, so we appreciate your prayers about all these things. In a couple of days they’ll be spending a day with their cousins, which will be good for them and will give Shari and I a chance to really make headway with the packing. Then, if we have a van and trailer to put it all in…! 🙂
Through it all, may we remember to stay close to the Source – the most important Person of all!
