Finding direction: A Look Back at 2018
Traditionally at this time of year we’ve taken a look back at the year’s most popular – most visited – posts at Finding direction. So – I’m going to keep up with the tradition!
This was a bit of a weird year because it was split into (not equal) thirds. The first third was ministry in Ixtapaluca and preparing for our time in Alberta and Saskatchewan. The second third was travel and ministry in Canada. And the last third was coming home while Hannah stayed in Canada, and an extra whirlwind of ministry while our coworkers were (unexpectedly) in the USA for the fall.
So, I’m actually going to split up the year’s popular posts into three. The five most popular posts of the year are in bold text. Here goes…
First Third
- A Trickle is not Enough – a post about our ongoing issue with running water.
- “Full health, and undying bodies, will be the reality” – The year began with the loss of our friend and fellow missionary Todd Miller.
- Dress for the Cold (in Mexico City) – Another post about the cold, but this time with an illustration from the City of Mexico itself.
- Earthquake – February 2018 – This one actually made it into Oxford’s video about the year in Mexico.
Second Third (Canada)
- The First Week in Canada – and maybe a bit of culture shock.
- Hannah: Moving to Three Hills! – Yes, this was the big day!
- Quick Update with Real Live Prayer Requests – I actually appreciate the fact that “prayer request” posts tend to be popular. Thanks for your prayers! You can see only posts with prayer requests here.
- Looking ahead – Canada and Mexico – about the last little bit of ministry in Canada, and looking ahead to Mexico etc.
Last Third
- Hogar, Dulce Hogar (Home Sweet Home) – getting home to Mexico, and our first adventures.
- Prayer Request: Goodbye, for now. – Saying goodbye after our coworker and friend Beth moved on to be with the Lord.
- So sorry – it appears I misplaced the church. Can’t find it anywhere… – Hmmmm… that’s kind of embarrassing, isn’t it?
- Camino Global, Avant – What has changed, what has not… – big news about two missions uniting, and what you need to know now.
That’s only a hint of what’s been going on this past year. Wow! We look forward to seeing God’s continued faithfulness in the unknown (to us) land of 2019. Thanks for reading!
